The Triangle of Death

Watch the Trailer

The Marines of 2nd Battalion 24th Marines tell the story of a foreign land engulfed in daily combat. Living day-by-day and seeing a country that wants to change, existing in a world that doesn't. Every step towards democracy is an invitation for destruction, every accomplishment is never enough, and everybody has already decided what he or she thinks about Iraq. In short this is a story of people helping people regardless of politics, presidents, or public opinion. This is the story of the triangle of death and how its people chose to participate in Iraq's first democratic national elections.

The Triangle of Death takes place during the 2004-2005 time frame during Iraq's transition from a dictatorship to a democracy. In order to tell the story of 2nd Battallion 24th Marines director Folleh S. Tamba had to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. He enlisted as a reservist and upon completing his basic training and MOS he was assigned to the unit and sent to Iraq. Upon returning to the U.S. Folleh called a long time friend and fellow filmmaker Juan Montelongo with whom he began shooting his documentary with. They both went on a month and a half long road trip tracking down his fellow Marines and getting their story on tape. It was with an exciting and interesting story that Folleh and Juan felt they could find funding to make their film, but alas and to no avail none could be found. Folleh, using funds from his deployment, decided to purchase the equipment necessary to tell this story and in doing so enlisted the additional help of Eugene Gordon editor, Tom Balazs sound designer, and Thomas Hartmann Composer and Producer. It has taken over four years to tell this story and the journey will continues...
